Wildflower Fields:
 A Little Daisy Turns Two

Featured Story

Lauren didn’t throw a party for her daughter’s first birthday because of ongoing home construction and bad weather, so naturally, she was excited to plan a memorable event for her second birthday.

She wanted to bring her friends and family together in a unique way, but felt that she didn’t have the time and the skillset for visualizing a cohesive, beautiful experience.

“As a working mom, you don’t have the time to browse Pinterest for hours to find ideas and then figure out how to execute them. I wanted to organize a beautiful party for my daughter, but it takes a lot of energy and time. Quite frankly, it started to feel like a burden.”

...to reality

from ideation...

When I first met with Lauren, she had a few mismatched inspiration images, but they didn’t fully embody the style or color palette she was envisioning.

As is often the case, Lauren had a short list of must haves:
a wildflower theme, a floral bouquet & dessert bar and a celebration that was as special as her daughter, Lyla.

After the initial Ideation & Creative development, I started with an invitation. The overall look was simple and sweet. A soft oval of watercolor flowers encircled the text and gave a nod to the Wildflower Theme.

Casi Cielo Cookies was able to utilize the font from the invitations to design custom cookies which created an intangible, but seamless effect.

“At first, I was asking myself, ‘It’s a two-year-old birthday party, does it need to be a beautiful event?’ but the truth is that even if they won’t remember it, you will. For me, it was about bringing our friends and family together to enjoy a special experience.”

There is something so special about celebrating a little ones birthday and Lyla’s second birthday was no exception.

As a surprise to Lauren, I included a set of glass domes to line the children’s table. This added a touch of whimsy atop the gingham tablecloth.

Once inside, the DIY Bouquet and Dessert Bar was the focal point. Natural textures, wildflower blooms and lush greens were layered to create a styled, but effortless look.

It was important to Lauren that the Bouquet Bar was not only beautiful, but also functional. As guests were mixing and mingling they also were encouraged to make their own bouquet, wrap it up with paper and ribbon and take it home as a memory of the celebration.

From there, the rest of design was filled with artistic touchesto make the event feel unique while at the same time staying within budget.
A darling linen sign with one of Lauren’s favorite quotes greeted guests as they entered the party.

“Chandon is lovely to work with, and the end result was absolutely gorgeous. She created so many unique details and nice little touches, such as the centerpieces for the children’s table that I didn’t even ask for.”
